Front-Loading Washers vs. Top-Loading Washers
There are two major types of washers: top-loading and front-loading. Top-loading washers have a hinged lid on the top of the machine to load clothes into the agitator. Front-loading washers have a door in the front of the machine, but they do not have agitators, just a drum. Top-loading washers have to have clearance above the machine to accommodate the open lid. Front-loading washers, on the other hand, must have clearance in front of the machine to accommodate the opening front door.
